TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian man was arrested at Malaysia's Penang International Airport after trying to fly home by hiding in the landing gear section of an airplane.

Channel News Asia reported that the 39-year-old man was found by a technician who was conducting maintenance at a cargo plane on Monday morning, May 13.

The technician saw him slipping out of the wheel well and immediately contacted airport security, who handed him over to the police, Bernama news agency reported on Tuesday.

The man is a poultry processing factory worker in Malaysia. He snuck into the plane because he could not afford an air ticket, but wants to return to his home in Medan, North Sumatra.

He is now under arrest for trespassing at the airport.

The incident was confirmed by the Southwest Penang district authority, Jefri Md Zain. Mr. Zain said they are now investigating the matter.

The Foreign Affairs' Ministry's Citizen Protection Service also confirmed the incident.
